Are there any out there that are legit?
I'm sure many of you have seen those late night/early morning infomericals talking about how you can turn virtually nothing into millions. And as you are sitting there watching and listening to those very convincing testimonials (some of which could be our very own life stories) we find ourselves thinking 'hell I could do that' and almost have ourselves truly convinced of that fact until the announcer comes on telling us how much we have to shell out for the American Dream. For me that's usually the big WAKE UP CALL where I find myself either thinking 'hell I can't afford that' or 'this can't be real -- it's too easy'.
We've all be told that if something seems too good to be true then it probably is. And normally I abide by that same philosphy. I mean a few weeks ago I got this stuffing envelope scam in the mail. It raved how a person could make up to a $1000 a week just by merely stuffing envelopes. According to the flier a person would get paid $2.oo for every envelope stuffed. All this company was asking for was a small handling fee something like $47.00 so they could send out your starting supplies and according to the flier that money would be reimbursed in your first check. Okay I will admit to thinking 'shit you know how many bills I could pay off with $1000 a week' then of course reality set in and I came to my senses thinking about the old adage I mentioned above. So I goggle the name of this so called company and wouldn't you know I came up with 100's of links reporting them as a SCAM. Honestly wasn't surprised but a little disheartened. I mean I have to wonder how many people they do suck into this scheme. People like you and me desperate for extra cash or just desperate for cash to pay for the essentials.
So this morning I am sitting in bed not really able to sleep and I flip through the channels stopping at this infomerical about turning $10.00 into $10,000 in less than 30 days. It's supposed to be something about real estate investing. It's called Millionaire Mindset Collection and the website can be found here. I haven't really looked at the site so please feel free to check it out and let me know - LOL! According to the announcer the cost of this is just 4 easy payments of $49.95 (just shy of $200.00) but if you acted right away they would slash one payment. $150 is still a bit steep for our budget and especially for something I wasn't even all that sure about. I mean yes there were many many people talking about getting checks ranging from $18k upwards of $80k. Of course it's intriguing and it did pull me in. But I couldn't help but thinking how true could this really be? Is it just more elaborate of SCAM than the envelope stuffing one I got in the mail? But on the other hand could it be true? Is my family missing out on great wealth and good life because I am too fearful or skeptical to take a chance? Kind of a double edge sword in my book.
Seriously I know there are people out there making money by doing real estate investing but are they not outlaying any of their own money to do so. That's where I am having my doubts. Again here's something that just seems too good to be true. I know there are other informericals out there advertising similar ideas. I believe the man's name is Jim Palmer....I think.
In all honesty I don't want to be filthy rich...but I want to be comfortable. I want to not have a stack of bills hanging over my head monthly or when it comes time to pay those said bills I don't want to draw a circle on the floor thrown them up in the air and the ones that land in the circle get paid (no I don't really do that but some months it feels like I should).
Sorry if this post is sort of a finanical downer but lately I have been feeling like we are drowning in a sea of debt.

yes, we have been there and are in the process of climbing out of the last hole we fell into...not, however by believing in infomercials.
Debt consolidation was actually one paycheck away and my brother actually had to take that step. however, keep thinking in good thoughts and do count your blessings. Good things will follow with positive outlooks.
best wishes!
I will give you steps for FREE.
How To Make Money in Real Estate with No Money Down.
1. Write a book about how to make money in Real Estate with No Money down.
2. Read the Book into a tape recorder with family and/or friends around for background noise(this will be called a Free Copy of your "seminar" on Tape).
3. Sell the books and tapes as a "Collection" at only four easy payments of $47.
4. Find a few "honest looking" people to tell the world about how they didn't believe it, but after using your system they were making money in Real Estate with No Money Down.
5. Buy Cheap TV space to have an "infomercial" to hawk your wares.
6. Start raking in the bucks.
7. You have now made money in "Real Estate" without ever plunking down a down payment (making your claims of being able to do this "true")
This post brought back a really bad memory of Rich's step-monster....er...I mean step-mother who tried to get us into AMWAY many years ago. It was a nightmare.
In the end,we had no choice but to join but she basically lied to us to get us in. We ended up getting all our investment back and his step-mother was not pleased.
We didn't like being screwed and we don't screw other people!!
I agree with JayMonster...that's a good way to make money in real estate!!
Oh, I'm right there with you! I am looking for something I can do at home to help bring in a little extra and everything I find is a scam. A lady told my husband the other day, "Medical billing, that's where it's at", and evidently she makes money doing it. BUT any of the training on the web is a scam, as are most of the ads you see on TV. Sigh. I was also looking into type-at-home stuff -- also scams. I know there's legit stuff out there, but how to sort it from the crap?!
Can I confess that i (STUPIDLY) fell for that envelope stuffing scam. I saw the ad in the back of a mommy magazine and thought "They have to be for real" since they were in the mag. Yeah, well, I'm not rich and there was no envelope stuffing.
Everything requires extensive research, nobody gets rich just like that. *snapping fingers*
In this life (and with real estate, I work in a real estate office) you have to spend money to make money. That's just how it is I guess.
Ugh, I wish any of those were true as well.
Hi from a fellow blogging chick!
I doubt very seriously if there are *any* legit get-rich-quick schemes. There are however quite a few legitimate businesses that you can work from home and make incomes of varying amounts depending on the company and the time you put in.
I've been in and out of both traditional and home businesses for 15 years. I've been burned and still have the credit card debt to prove it, but I've been with a solid company for three years and the debt pile is shrinking.
I know a lot about what's out there. Of course I'm partial to my company, but if you want feedback on home biz in general I'd be happy to help you out.

make extra money
I fell for the Millionaire Mindset informercial as well - the only thing is it DID work or me - but it took about 6 months to work. I was one of the success stories - I sound like the darn infomercial now. I've seen some sites where she is in trouble for the verbage she has used in her advertising promising things that she can't deliver - but actually following the steps works. I have now wholesaled (flipped) close to 26 properties the way I learned in that program. But it is really scary at first, there was a lot of fear involved for me personally to overcome to actually run my own buisness with real estate gurus with little experience when I started - only loaded as a mom with the information from that program. But whether you do her program or another one (avoiding scams of course) only you can decide if you will be successful or not and how to manage your household finances - there's no "quick" and miraculous solution. I talk about making money on my blog now as a result of my crazy hail mary pass when I bought that silly informercial product: jennysmoneychat.com
I'm a mom - like ya'll trying to provide some relief!
Blessings!
