4 days until we put our Dave Ramsey budget to the test

Well when hubby and I get our paychecks this Friday we will be sitting down looking at that week's allotment, fine tuning it and then for the first time putting just enough money in our checking account to pay the necessities and the rest will be in cash into several different envelopes (groceries, eating out, gasoline, entertainment and blow) to get spent for that week.
I am anxious to get this started. I want to see how much I can save on my grocery budget. We have alloted $500 for the month but I am hoping to use less than that. And for eating out we have $68.00 set aside for the month and I am hoping to use half of that. Those are my personal goals.

I will be logging in our debt snowball here shortly. We are one CD away from getting to the debt lesson and the debt snowball. I will admit to being a little nervous about putting all of that down on paper but I will enjoy greatly as I can mark off in big RED pen all those paid off and cut up. In the months to come I know that I will be looking around the house for those things that we no longer need and will attempt to sell some of them to add those profits to our debt snowball.

I am hoping that before long we will have less credit card debt and a bigger emergency fund than baby step 1 of $1000. Slow and steady wins the race right?

You sound so hopeful, and determined! I know you can do it!! Make sure to keep us posted on your progress. I'm looking forward to both us working on our finances, and conquering the debt! :)

Good for you!

I've started posting on my blog all about our progress again, too!

We finished the $1,000 fund Friday, as well as getting everything current. I've always kept a list of debts, but had to add a few once I got my desk organized (argh!) Now, I have several envelopes funded for everything, and so far, so good. Weekends are the hardest, and so far, we made it through this past weekend with flying colors!

Your budget for "blow" better be pretty high. I've heard that stuff is addictive.

Way to go! Beans and rice - rice and beans. I've read "The Tortise and the Hare" a bunch of times, and that silly turtle wins every single time I read it! :)
