Well hubby and I both have now read The Total Money Makerover and have moved onto the 13 CDs in the Financial Peace University both by Dave Ramsey. First let me say that no matter your financial situation Dave Ramsey is worth a listen to...if only for his comedic value alone. He's very funny and has a way of zeroing in on all those things we are doing in our finiancial lives yet not so willing to admit.
He's not just a financial counselor but a Christian one as well. And for me that combination is working well. I am beginning to see that perhaps this was God's way of helping me find my way to him. Odd I know but that's truly how I feel.
So like I said we both read the book and last night we started listening to the first CD in the set and doing the workbook exercises that go along with it. At the end of the CD we were asked to use the Quickie Budget Form to get us prepared for the next CD session that is Cash Flow Plan and Budgeting.
Well we did just that and that's where our sobbering reality came into play. For this Quickie Budget you are only to budget your life's necessities -- Shelter, Transportion, Food. Credit Card debt isn't added to this Quickie Budget at all. So here we are going through all of this and after we are finished low and behold we have $25.27 left to our names at the end of that budget. Mind you I said this didn't include any credit card payments. VERY SCARY!!!! Especially since I have no clue how we are supposed to even begin to get those paid for if we can barely make the necessities.
I am doing my best to keep the faith and believeing the best is just round the corner for my family and me but it's also hard not to be scared that we have dug our hole so deep there is no getting out of it. For those out there that could offer up a few prayers we will gladly take them.

To get some extra money, you have to listen to what Dave tells you to do... "Sell off everything but your kids." Anything you don't need--- SELL IT.
When we first started Dave Ramsey last February 1st, we listed a crapload of stuff on ebay. Made quite a bit of money, and started sticking it towards credit cards... We eventually started eliminating them. Of course, we fell off the Dave Ramsey bandwagon over the summer, and now are giving it another go. He really does make a lot of sense, and if you follow his plan, it will be so worth it!
